Graduations

Entry 046 for Friday May 29, 2020

The core questions:

Credit goes to Ben and readers of his blog for these “Four Questions” and the five stretch questions.

  1. What did you do today? Posted the #TechEduTips video for the day (finding CC images on Flickr); #TC1030 and #TC1033 classes with some time dedicated to discussing what is upcoming in the fall semester at the Tec; a good student meeting with Lizbeth (#TC1030); #educoffee with two first-timers Michael (USA) and Pablo (Ecuador); #TI4022 Cybersecurity class.
  2. What did you enjoy? #educoffee with Michael and Pablo was really nice. Perspectives from someone in the USA combined with the Ecuador perspective and my view as a Canadian in México led to an interesting discussion. I can truly say that the project still “has legs”.
  3. What did you find difficult? Today was supposed to be our daughter’s graduation ceremony and Saturday would be her graduation party. This #covid19 is affecting so many in different ways. Obviously some very tragically and some in deep emotional ways. I remember my high school grad and still talk with those friends over Facebook. I love attending the ceremonies on my campus and meeting the parents of my students. That in fact is my favourite part of those days. I look forward to having those back.
  4. What has changed? I think I need to walk more and get outside for longer walks. The amount of walking on campus is gone and not being made up with my commute from the kitchen to the home office.
