Forward to School

Entry 504 for Monday August 30, 2021

The core questions:

Credit goes to Ben and readers of his blog for these “Four Questions” and the five stretch questions.

  1. What did you do today? Morning session for #TC2007B with my first experience in almost 18 months of students on campus in my class (I am still remote); #TC1028 student meetings with Diego, and Sergio; secondary school parent/teacher meeting (in Google Meet) about the start of the year; #TC2007B afternoon group (mixed remote/on-campus); physiotherapy with Valeria; hosted an almost 3 hour Zoom session for students and parents of my daughter’s graduation class to negotiate and vote on a plan for their graduation party.
  2. What did you enjoy? The hyflex class went pretty well. Some students disappeared during breakout rooms to go for breakfast.
  3. What did you find difficult? The shift to various flavours of hyflex for our course is trying to keep everyone happy but I detect some anxiety that some people aren’t 100% happy. I also was struggling how to spend money we have for a cyber-security lab in the best way.
  4. What has changed? Again, I am resisting the “back to school”. Things are different, we are moving forward and not back.
