Entry 024 for Thursday May 7, 2020

The core questions:

Credit goes to Ben and readers of his blog for these “Four Questions” and the five stretch questions.

  1. What did you do today? Third day of morning meetings to work on our preparation of #TI1015 for August. In the closing session I was asked to present the video we prepared, see below for that video which is in Spanish. It went well but I was a little nervous presenting before 500+ people. Thanks to Jorge Welti and Genaro Zavala for giving us space to present today; #educoffee with Mahdi in the afternoon; meeting with Fabiola, Gerardo, and Abraham to discuss our preparation for #TC1030 that starts next week; #TI2011 class with guest speaker Sergio Villarreal and another round of “Name that Tune”.
  2. What did you enjoy? The presentation to colleagues went well and in general everything today. The guest speaker went really well, I haven’t spoken with Sergio in ages.
  3. What did you find difficult? I was a little nervous presenting our video to many people. I was worried about getting permission from all of my colleagues to publish the video publicly on YouTube but they all agreed. I was sure to ask each one individually to not put anyone into a peer pressure situation of feeling that they had to answer yes. It worked out well.
  4. What has changed? The guest speaker was good but I think my students want some more technical content in the presentations so we will look to adjust that some more.
