The core questions:

Credit goes to Ben and readers of his blog for these “Four Questions” and the five stretch questions.

1. What did you do today? Morning class for #TC1028 followed by the am session of #educoffee with Mahdi. We discussed if some of use felt overworked. Is this perception or and actual increase in load? With the blurring lines between work and “not work” it is difficult to tell. Three advising sessions with students (two individual and one as a pair session) and another pm #educoffee session with Edgar. Serendipity (one of my favourite words) struck when I saw his social media post about “tea time” and I invited him. We discussed strategies for online pivot and I was able to point to some classic #flipclass resources of Crystal Kirch‘s excellent guide to WSQing and Katie Gimbar’s “What If Students Don’t Watch The Videos?“
   
2. What did you enjoy? Part of my advising sessions with two of the students was looking forward into time for their academic careers and life plans. I try to communicate to current students that my roll as their teacher is “for life”. I will be available for them to contact anytime going forward and that many of my sessions schedule using my office hour system is in fact with students from previous semesters (I avoid the use of ex or former students).
3. What did you find difficult? Wrapping up this academic “period” is going to be difficult. With our #Tec21 model we split the semester into three periods of five weeks which are each followed by a one week activity. More on that in another post. So next week is the end of the second period and I am struggling to get the administrative items cleared out.
4. What has changed? I truly miss random encounters in the hallways on campus. I miss hugs.
