Zoom Out

Entry 137 for Friday August 28, 2020

The core questions:

Credit goes to Ben and readers of his blog for these “Four Questions” and the five stretch questions.

  1. What did you do today? #TC1028 group 92; slight scare about being asked to take courses to prepare for on-site Hybrid+ delivery; quick meeting with Luis about #MA2002B; #TC3045 with guest speaker Nathan Taylor; #educoffee with Jakob and Pablo; meeting with #TC1028 student Mariann; family event with Poncho and Rosy.
  2. What did you enjoy? The discussion with my student Mariann was very nice. My system for #asynchronousOnDemand has been a part of my practice for years but I think it has more weight during this pandemic. Students need to talk and I need time to listen.
  3. What did you find difficult? Zoom crashing on me again while trying to type in the text chat box during a guest speaker presentation. This happened last week as well but the recordings did not get lost. This time I lost the first portion of the guest speaker and I need to find a fix. Side-channel recording is the most likely option.
  4. What has changed? I’m comfortably setup with Manjaro as my main system now but this Zoom client crashing is a pain. I don’t want to do another dual-boot setup just for that but this is rather annoying. I need to look at a couple of options.
